Looking for something to do in Boerne, TX? We recently visited and taste tested craft beers at one of the Breweries in Boerne, TX. The brewery is named Cibolo Creek Brewing Company.
As you may know I prefer the darker style, and my wife leans toward the hazy IPA.
Brews we sampled
They had 10 brews available during our visit. They carry the same five consistently and rotate four to six other small batch recipes. We purchased a flight of 5 types. My wife tried the
Creekside IPA,
Lakeside IPA,
Trucking Down Main
My choices were the
American Wheat
Caverns Inn Black Lager
They were out of their top seller – Boerne Blonde
It might have been the long drive or our heated argument, but neither of us were inspired to order a pint after our samples. We both talked the next day and decided the beer was average – not bad, not great. Drinkable, and the drawing card would be the location.
Atmosphere
This is a meeting place for friends and groups of friends. The front patio has 6 round tables all with umbrellas. You can walk down the side and find 4 more covered tables. In the back, is a covered patio with a dozen or so picnic tables with multiple fans blowing and keeping everyone cool. A small stage for singers is at the very end of the patio. In the front of the building is a covered porch with a swing one either side, and seating next to the swings. The memory of Andy Taylor’s front porch popped into my head as we walked up, very welcoming and a place to sit a spell.
It is a dog friendly location in the patio area.
We wrote about Dodging Duck earlier and to compare the two, if I wanted to eat and drink a beer with my wife I would go there, if I wanted to talk with friends in Boerne, Cibolo Creek would be my choice.
Food
Cibolo Creek has a large following of dedicated food customers. The dining room was packed when we entered with everyone enjoying lunch items.
Merchandise
They had to different Cibolo Creek designed tshirts in different colors and styles.

About the Authors
When I first started dating my wife, we enjoyed popular domestic beers. I am sure visiting a craft brewery was her idea. Our taste buds rejoiced as we sampled the various brews. It did not take long before our tastes diverted – the darker ambers, reds, porters, and stouts for me, IPA, Hazy IPA, and pilsners for her.
When we retired, we decided to visit as many of our National Parks across this country. It seemed a natural fit to visit breweries in the many cities we travel through as we drive to the parks.
We currently reside in Fort Worth, Texas. Texas has about 300 micro-breweries, and the Metroplex has over 80. Which means we have a whole lot of day trips ahead of us to visit our local breweries.
